OVERVIEW

BACKGROUND

CityPups is a fictional startup designed to help city dwellers find and adopt their perfect canine companion.

This individual project was completed over 5 days using the Google Ventures Design Sprint format. The challenge, provided by Bitesize UX in partnership with Springboard, involved creating a solution for CityPups. The design process focused on developing a seamless website application experience, with restrictions that users should not be redirected to external websites or adoption services.

PROBLEM

Living in a city can make it challenging for people to find the right dog that fits their lifestyle. With limited space, specific lifestyle needs, and unique urban challenges, many potential adopters struggle to navigate the overwhelming number of options without personalized guidance.

SOLUTION

I centered my design solution around a new, interactive dog quiz feature, that acts as a match-making service to simplify the adoption process. By asking key questions about lifestyle, living space, and preferences, the quiz narrows down dog options to fit each user. This feature ensures city dwellers can easily find the right dog and fosters successful long-term matches.

DESIGN PROCESS

Following the Google Ventures Design Sprint methods, I began by diving into CityPup's problem scope, user research, and company objectives, to get a detailed understanding of the problem, the brand, and their mission. I identified key challenges faced by potential dog adopters in urban areas and conducted extensive research into competitor platforms and user behaviors. Using the insights gathered, I created initial sketches and low-fidelity wireframes, through which I conceptualized the dog-matching quiz and other core features aimed at improving the adoption process.

After solidifying my solution plan, I refined the wireframes and moved on to high-fidelity designs, incorporating branding, visuals, and a user-friendly interface to guide adopters through the quiz and search functionality.

Once the designs were finalized, I conducted a round of user testing to ensure a seamless experience that aligned with CityPups' vision and goals. I gathered insightful information and feedback regarding areas and features of the prototype that needed to be improved or altered. Testing allowed for clarity in my design solution and where it was evident that further refinements were necessary.
